About Sylvia Hicks

Sylvia began her career as an Occupational Therapist, graduating in 1975 with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy. As an Occupational Therapist she had a varied career in General Medicine, Acquired Brain Injuries, Children with Disabilities and then spent the last 11 years working as a Clinical Manager with a specialist mental health team. Later, her career changed course and she graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Homeopathy in 2011.

Homeopathy is based on the principle of “Like Cures Like” or “Similar Suffering” i.e. a substance which can cause particular symptoms if taken by a healthy person, can bring about the relief of similar symptoms in a patient when given in a highly diluted and potentised form.

From a young age, Sylvia has been interested in her own health and helping others achieve health and wellbeing. She was particularly interested to natural methods of healing that were gentle and non-invasive. When she just had one small child in 1977, she was introduced to homeopathy and was immediately attracted to this form of medicine because it was natural and gentle as well as individualised. It provided the tools to treat the individual mind and body by aiding the body’s own healing ability.

Sylvia was able to teach herself how to treat herself and her family for everyday ailments such as bruises, colds, flu, earaches, teething, urinary tract infections, pain and fever. For other ailments she consulted a professionally trained homeopath. Sylvia was able to raise three children without the use of antibiotics or conventional pain relief and fever medication. After her children became adults, she decided to train as a professional homeopath. Sylvia has expanded her skills and attended many seminars and workshops.

Her extra skills include the following:

  • Homeopathic Facial Analysis which assists in the selection of medicine.
  • Facial analysis and the use of Biochemic Tissue Salts to reinforce, regulate and balance body functions. This is often required to support the healing process.
  • The use of homeopathy to assist with fertility.
  • Testing for the presence of heavy metals and mineral deficiencies. This is done using Spectrophotometry and provides on the spot results. This helps to identify underlying causes of ailments and obstacles to cure.
